7 Ways to Keep Kids Active This Summer with Your Inground Trampoline

Trampolines are a great way for families to stay active together and have fun with friends. With so many different types of trampolines available on the market, it's important to make sure your kids are playing safe. At Trampolines.com we recommend families, especially those with small children, to install a quality in-ground trampoline. Enhanced safety is one of many benefits of an in-ground trampoline. There are so many ways to have a safe, fun time jumping on a trampoline.

Here are some of our favorite popular trampoline games and activities that you can try with your kids:

  1. Two on Two. This game is great for younger kids. It involves two teams of two players each bouncing on opposite ends of the trampoline. The goal is to see who can jump the highest number of times while staying on their own half of the trampoline. This game requires agility and coordination, making it a great way to help improve balance skills while having fun!
  1. Simon Says. Another simple yet entertaining game to play on the trampoline is "Simon Says". This game requires one player to be the ‘Simon’ and give out different commands such as ‘hop on one foot’ or ‘bounce up and down’. The other players must follow the commands given in order to get points, but only if Simon says “Simon Says” first! Otherwise they are out of the game for repeating the action.
  1. Ball Toss. In this game, two teams of three or four players stand at opposite sides of the trampoline with a large ball in their hands. The goal for each team is to toss the ball over to the other side without it touching the ground on either end. Teams take turns throwing the ball until one team has successfully thrown it over three times in a row (or whatever number you decide). For this game, it is easy for kids to get distracted in the moment so it is highly recommended for this and all games to have a safety net to keep kids from falling.
  1. Get creative outdoors. Help your kids use their imaginations and create a fun outdoor obstacle course! Place cones, buckets, and other objects in the yard to make it more challenging. One step could be bouncing, doing a flip, or running in a circle around the perimeter of the trampoline. This will help them work on their gross motor skills as they navigate around the course. Encourage them to time themselves for an extra challenge.
  1. Practice soccer and other sports skills. Have your kids practice their soccer skills in the backyard with an inground trampoline. With the added bounce, they can really work on their footwork and practice different types of shots. For a fun way to keep track of their progress, use a net, chalk or tape to create a target area where they can aim for and try to hit. You can also practice many other sports such as gymnastics, wakeboarding and more.
  1. Trampoline Basketball. If your kids love basketball, they’ll love this game! Set up a hoop next to the inground trampoline and let them practice their jump shots or have a shooting contest with friends! This will get them active while having fun at the same time. You can also play other classic basketball shooting games like H.O.R.S.E.
  1. Have a dance party. There is no structure to this one, just turn on some music and get the wiggles out. Your kids will love it if you get silly and join in the fun. For added enjoyment in the hotter months, set up a sprinkler or hose to make it a splash party. Water balloons can also make it fun.

These are just a few ideas for how you can use an inground trampoline to keep your kids active this summer! Not only will they stay fit physically, but also mentally and emotionally with all the fun activities that come along with it. So make sure to take full advantage of these amazing outdoor amenities while the weather is warm!
